The giant tree of life (Thuja plicata Donn ex D.Don, synonym: Thuja gigantea Nutt.), also called giant thuja, is a species of the tree of life (Thuja) in the cypress family (Cupressaceae). In the English-speaking world it is called "Western Red Cedar".

Hardly any fiber deviations (spiral growth, alternating spiral growth) and thujaplicin contained in the wood give Western Red Cedar natural stability, enormous longevity, minimize settling and checking, prevent insect attack and natural rotting processes.

Thanks to the excellent thermal insulation properties of Western Red Cedar and the almost unlimited diameters of our hand finished natural logs, we always build in accordance with local energy codes. In addition, the building material wood convinces with its sustainability, durability and simple elegance.

Wood has a psychological effect, reduces stress, promotes healing processes as well as health and well-being for body and mind. Western Red Cedar increases thermal, olfactory, visual and acoustic comfort, lowers blood pressure and pulse and has a calming effect on humans and animals.
